Father, son and holy moly.
Summertime queen Addison Rae is no stranger to bikini pics, but her latest outfit choice has stirred up quite the controversy.
The 21-year-old actress and TikTok star shared a photo of herself on Instagram wearing one of the brand Praying's "Holy Trinity" bikinis. The $100 string bikini is all white, and has the words "father" and "son" emblazoned across each side of the bra, and the words "holy spirit" across the front of the bikini bottoms. You get the idea.
While some fans loved the since-deleted Instagram photo, others decried Addison as "blasphemous." In case you're not familiar, the suit is referencing the Christian Holy Trinity, aka the father (god), the son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit.
“Nah this disrespectful to Jesus. Sad what y’all do for money,” one person wrote on the post, according to Page Six. Another follower wrote “is nobody going to talk about this disrespecting religions?”
One person shared a screenshot of Addison’s photo on Twitter, writing, “i wonder what christians think about addison rae’s post. the underwear says 'holy spirit'. is this not blasphemy?”
“The brand @praying___ is blatantly mocking and disrespecting Christianity. This is unacceptable!!” someone else wrote on Twitter.
Praying has curated a very Gen Z following with a flare for 2000s nostalgia. It’s a much-loved brand, worn by A-listers like Olivia Rodrigo, Halsey, and Madison Beer, who have all been seen in various pieces.
Other items (aside from the controversial bikini) include products like a crop top that reads “God’s Favorite,” a slip dress and a matching purse that says "Give Girls Money" and a purse with a very 2000s Lindsay Lohan on it.
BuzzFeed reported that Praying has been “flooded” with DMs asking them to remove the bathing suit in question. But some people are all for the photo and the bikini itself.
“The adidas/praying collab ft addison rae is the perfect irony slay,” wrote a fan on Twitter.
All I’m praying for right now is that this controversy blows over soon so Addison can get back to the important stuff—teaching us how to "Woah" on TikTok.
