EVER WONDERED if swimwear designers are in a secret society of sadists with a fetish for emotionally eviscerating women over 30? “This season, let’s make maillots with cutouts right below the belly button,” one likely said during an evil brainstorming session at their lair, which is probably in Montauk. “Let’s push bikinis with zero bust support. Muahaha!” another might have cried.
Even ultra-confident women find swimsuits stressful. After they efficiently trigger every insecurity, you’re expected to hit the beach, pool or rooftop soirée mostly naked with no physical or psychological reinforcement.
