I'll be honest: I didn't own a pair of traditional running shorts until last week. After years of preferring the look and feel of a compressive pair of bike shorts or leggings, I one day just decided to ditch 'em entirely. But recently — after literal years — I decided to give them another try. Why? Because Old Navy recently dropped a pair reminiscent of those from a high-end brand that's double the price. See: the Extra High-Waisted Dolphin-Hem Run Shorts, 2.5-Inch Inseam ($25, originally $27). And when I saw that there was a top to match — the Medium Support PowerSoft Strappy Sports Bra ($30) — I felt like I was maybe, just maybe, about to rekindle my appreciation of shorts. Read on for my honest review of the floral-print set.

I couldn't help but "ooh" and "ahh" when I ripped apart the packaging housing this set. The floral pattern is so pretty. I'm particularly obsessed with how the sports bra boasts both wide and thin double cross-back straps in back, which looks luxe at the right price. Plus, it offers medium coverage, which translated to very minimal bounce during my run.

As for the shorts, they're also majorly covetable. I love the split hem detail and the supportive, high-waisted elasticized waistband featuring a drawstring if you want to tighten the waist to your liking. But, hands down, my favorite detail is the zipped pocket on the front, which is just large enough to hold my apartment keys and an ID.

The most important thing worth noting about this set is that the shorts are *quite* short. Before purchasing them, I was a little nervous about this, especially since I'm on the taller side at 5'10". Nonetheless, my fiancé assured me that passersby wouldn't be able to see my butt during my run. They did the job, but I did feel a little nervous about accidentally exposing myself on my six-miler, which was less than ideal. For that reason, this is an important factor to consider before adding it to your shopping cart.

This loungewear set is great for those who appreciate the put-together feeling of a matching set, but don't want to sacrifice functionality for style. While I'm still not the biggest shorts fan, I still recommend these ones, and from me — that's major.
